ABOUT US

OHA’s mission is “Protecting Oregon’s wildlife, habitat and hunting heritage”

The Tualatin Valley Chapter is one of 25 chapters that make up the family orientated, non-profit organization with over 10,400 members strong. We are a family-oriented organization that believes the youth of today will be the hunters of tomorrow. It is they that will keep our tradition alive. OHA is made up of all types of hunters: Rifle, bow, shotgun, handgun, muzzleloaders, trappers and all that enjoy the outdoors and wildlife. OHA accepts any method of taking game legally and ethically.

Some of the youth programs that our chapter supports and sponsors are:

  • Hillsboro Trap & Skeet Club Youth Shooters
  • Youth Scholarships
  • Local High School Clay Target Shooting Teams that shoot at Hillsboro Trap & Skeet and Verboort Rod & Gun Clubs.
  • Timber Beasts BB Gun Club out of Forest Grove
  • We partner w/Hooked on Fishing Youth Event which brings in 1500+ youth and their families to the two day event at Henry Hagg Lake the 1st weekend in June
  • Sponsor the Youth Turkey Hunting Clinic that the Hoodview OHA Chapter puts on
  • Promote and sponsor hunters’ safety programs

We work in partnership with other chapters and other agencies like Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife (ODFW) and Oregon State Police (OSP) to ensure that present and future generations have huntable wildlife resources. We support the Turn In Poachers (TIP) program which rewards individuals who help convict poachers.

Some of the habitat and wildlife projects that our chapter supports are:

  • Remove scotch broom and plant browse grasses for deer/elk
  • Clean up Target Shooting areas in the Tillamook Forest
  • Assisted ODFW with collaring elk near Mt.Hood
  • Assisted ODFW with wildlife survey programs
  • Wildlife Safe Passages – pledge money for over/under passes for wildlife to cross roads

Fighting for our rights

At our State level OHA provides a lobbyist to the State Legislature to protect and enhance hunter’s rights, attend meetings of the Oregon Dept. of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW), Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission and other government agencies and private organizations as assigned.
Amy Patrick is our lobbyist and there are bills this session that target gun owners. OHA will fight and join other agencies in fighting for hunters and our gun rights.

The Tualatin Valley Chapter also hosts an annual Spring Fundraising Banquet. This event helps raise funds to go towards “Protecting Oregon’s wildlife, habitat and hunting heritage”

For more information on our events and fundraisers or to get involved, please fill out the submission form on our contact page.
