Update: We built buck and pole fencing to protect an aspen stand May 11-13. In April we did maintenance on the deer fence between Lava Butte and Sunriver junction. Chapter members joined with BLM, RMEF and PAM (Protect Animal Migration) to remove buried chicken and hog wire overgrown with bitterbrush, clearing 20 acres of 2,260 pounds of fencing, to be recycled.
We held our best-ever banquet, netting about $74,000 for Oregon’s wildlife, habitat and hunters. June 2 was Family & Youth Day at Cyrus Ranch.

Update: The Youth Shotgun Skills Clinic will be on July 7; call 541-996-9984. Our Detroit Project took place May 4-5, and the Aspen Project was June 15-17. We again were among sponsors of the ODFW Youth Outdoor Day June 9. Our board agreed to donate $1,500 for a new OSP deer decoy.

Update: The chapter is donating half the cost of a replacement elk decoy to our local OSP. The following donations were also approved: $500 to local 4-H shooting club the Gun Slingers, $375 to ODHA for one Marsh Rat boat, and $3,000 to Bushmen Archers for new 3-D targets at their range. Our chapter photo/story contest is ongoing; winners will be selected at our members picnic July 28 at Bushmen Archers.

Update: Our Family Campout at Millican took place June 8-10, with guzzler maintenance, good food, and lots of fun.
In the last couple months, chapter volunteers cleaned our highway section and staffed gun & knife show booths in Portland and Canby.

Update: Our chapter has a cleanup project on the Tillamook State Forest target shooting area July 14; call 503-290-6143. We helped with youth events at Henry Hagg Lake on June 2. On May 19, some chapter members volunteered at the Tualatin River Wildlife Refuge bird festival, while others did Scotch broom cleanup at Barney Reservoir.

Update: This year’s $1,500 scholarship winner, Jaqueline Frawley, will attend Honors College at OSU in the fall. The chapter board approved a $2,100 donation helping two 4-H shooters and their coach attend the national competition this year. We plan to staff booths at the Yamhill County Fair and the St. Paul Rodeo.
