This 3-hour workshop for new hunters combines effective online scouting with the fundamentals required for hunting deer and elk lawfully, safely, and ethically in Oregon.

New hunters will learn about:

1. Regulations and hunting ethics.
2. Hunting gear basics
3. Hunting styles commonly used in Oregon
4. Fundamentals of concealment and wind
5. Deer identification
6. Shoot/don’t shoot scenarios
7. What desirable habitat looks like
8. Resources available for effective online scouting
9. Key indicators on satellite images when online scouting
10. Planning with tracks and waypoints
11. Using maps to navigate complex mountain road systems
12. Identifying public vs. private land where you scout and hunt
13.  Quickly identifying game management units online.

This live event is part of OHA’s Learn to Hunt Program. A series of classes and clinics culminating in a field day scouting for deer and elk on huntable public land near your home.
