Overview

Calling in deer, elk, or bear is an amazing thrill. The Salem chapter of Oregon Hunters Association (OHA) is hosting a beginner-level big game calling class to teach you the gear and fundamentals you need to start calling deer, elk, or bear in the hunting woods this year.

Speaker Norm Hewitt is a long time OHA member and avid hunter routinely using calls to bring game in for the perfect shot.

  1. What types of calls are required for calling elk, deer, and bear
  2. Fundamentals of making call vocalizations
  3. Why calling can improve your odds of success
  4. When, where, and why calling works
  5. How to practice without upsetting your neighbors and family
  6. Pros, cons, and legality of electronic calling devices

What you should bring

  • Your own game calls (if you have them)
  • Pen and paper for notes

The class is free, and you’ll meet some friendly folks who’ve been hunting a long time.
