Get to Know a Wildlife Trooper
Oregon wildlife officers work hard to protect hunting and fishing resources in Oregon. By patrolling our woods and on our rivers, they help keep fish and game populations strong so that we can have quality hunting now and into the future.
On May 9, please join us for a presentation from Wildlife Trooper James Baird. He’ll go over his main job duties, stories from the field, and share Oregon-specific rules and customs that new hunters need to know about.
Topics Covered:
- Unintentional bloopers new hunters make
- Electronic vs paper tagging
- Etiquette when a wildlife trooper approaches you in the field
- Managing landowner relationships and conflicts
- Blatant game violations
- Recently closed sting operations
- The Turn In Poachers (TIP) Program
- Stories about recent stings and Fluffy the anti-poaching deer decoy!
- Road hunting
This is a relaxed presentation hosted by the Hoodview Chapter of the Oregon Hunters Association during their general monthly meeting. Guests and questions encouraged!
