This workshop for new hunters includes:

Introduction To Hunting Deer & Elk in Oregon is a deep dive into ‘how and where’ to hunt these critters.
Topics covered include:
- How to determine the experience you want to have
- How much time will it take
- Hunting gear basics
- Hunting styles commonly used in Oregon
- Fundamentals of concealment and wind
- Deer identification
- Shoot/don’t shoot scenarios
- What desirable habitat looks like
- Resources available for effective online scouting
- Key indicators on satellite images when online scouting
Introduction To Online Scouting
Learn how to find desirable hunting areas using cutting-edge navigation tools
- Quickly identify large tracts of public land
- Use satellite imagery to find clear cuts, pockets, and recovering burns
- Ground level photos of these habitats
- Examples from a controlled hunt unit and a western general unit
- Live online scouting of our Starker Forest Field Day location

These presentations flow in a conversational style with interactive Q&A. These are not boring lectures or overly technical stuff.
This is two guys who hunt a lot and are happy to share. You’ll notice topics follow a natural sequence of decisions all hunters face each season.
It’s ok if you can attend only one or two of the classes.
Please bring your own lunch and drink. There will be ample breaks.
