Finding a Place to Hunt

Overview

For new hunters, it is often confusing and difficult to find a place to hunt. The good news is, that’s normal. The bad news is, finding a place to hunt will continue to be a challenge throughout your entire hunting career.

This lesson will explain some strategies for finding a good hunting spot and share some common do’s, don’ts, and etiquette around hunting access in Oregon.

Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) offers several hunting access programs throughout the state. Some programs put up signs to advertise huntable lands, but some do not. Signage is just one part of finding a place to hunt.
